Join us for a career panel event where our panelists from various data careers will discuss their day-to-day jobs, training, and answer your questions. We will have break-out rooms for more specific discussion about the career you’re interested in hearing more about.

Tentative plan:

  • Panel introductions: names, job titles, education and training, job day to days, advice on how to get job/what skills to have/resources
  • Moderator asks questions that were submitted by attendees when they registered
  • Break out rooms: one room per speaker (or could have two speakers per room) where participants and panelists can have more direct and specific conversations about that career

Panelists:
Analytics Engineer: Marieke Jackson

DevOps/ML Ops: Isabel Zimmerman
Isabel Zimmerman is a software engineer on the open source team at Posit, where she works on building MLOps frameworks in Python. She is also currently pursuing a Master's degree in Data Science from Florida Polytechnic University. When she's not geeking out over new data science techniques, she can be found teaching her dog new tricks or baking vegan desserts.

Research Scientist/Data Analytics for Research Group: Julia Schuchard, PhD
Julia Schuchard has worked in health sciences research for over 10 years. For the past year she has served as Data Analytics Manager for PEDSnet, a national learning health system based at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia that uses electronic health record data to conduct clinical research studies. She has recently been on both sides of the hiring table (interviewing and being interviewed), which has reinforced how valuable coding skills are in today's job marketplace.

Data Scientist: Jessica Streeter
Jess is a Staff Data Scientist at Spring Health. She's never done an A/B test, hasn't created a predictive model in at least 2 years, and last did linear algebra in her freshman year of college. Somehow, she still seems to be a pretty good data scientist. She lives in Philly with her wife, two kids, and assorted 4 legged friends.
