Machine Learning 101 in R (Part 1)

Details
Hello there Sydney R-Ladies!
Have you always been interested in machine learning in R, but haven't had a chance to learn the lingo and get started? This month we're in luck because Sarah Romanes (@sarah_romanes) will be giving us a introduction to the topic!
This Meetup will be the first stage of a two-part workshop, and is appropriate for beginners. It assumes a familiarity with R, but doesn't assume you have any previous experience with machine learning or statistical modelling. The format for this part will be mostly be an introductory talk (part 2 is likely to have more hands on content).
The topics covered are:
- What is machine learning?
- Introduction to linear regression
- Introduction to generalised linear models
- Building classifiers using k-nearest neighbours
- Decision trees
- Introduction to ensemble learning (with random forests)
Bring your fully charged laptop (the space is short on powerpoints), with R and RStudio installed.
