July AI & Ethics Happy Hour at Rayback Collective
Details
Join the AI Safety & Ethics subgroup of the Rocky Mountain AI Interest Group for a relaxed summer happy hour at Rayback Collective in Boulder.
This month, we’re keeping it informal: no slides, no formal agenda, and no required reading. Just a chance to connect with other people who are curious about AI, ethics, safety, policy, research, startups, and the social impacts of emerging technology.
Come by for casual conversation, meet new folks, catch up with familiar faces, and share what you’ve been thinking about lately in the AI world. Whether you work in AI, study it, build with it, regulate it, worry about it, or are simply trying to understand where things are headed, you’re welcome.
We’ll gather at Rayback Collective, which has plenty of space, food trucks, drinks, and a casual community vibe. Feel free to arrive when you can and stay as long as you like.
A few possible conversation starters:
- What AI ethics or safety question has been on your mind lately?
- What recent AI development surprised you?
- Where are you feeling optimistic about AI right now?
- Where are you feeling cautious?
- What should the Boulder/Colorado tech community be paying more attention to?
All are welcome. We aim for thoughtful, respectful conversation across different backgrounds and viewpoints. Please critique ideas, not people; assume good faith; and avoid sharing private or confidential information.
Come hang out, grab a drink or a bite, and enjoy a low-key evening with the local AI ethics community.
