Our first speaker, Michael Drapkin, is the CEO of Paximal, which he joined in July 2023. In this role, he oversees and is responsible for the strategic, financial, and operational leadership of the company. The company leverages the latest AI technologies to generate patent applications, and empower clients to develop far more valuable IP portfolios at lower costs.
Immediately before joining Paximal, he was a Partner in the Intellectual Property Group at Holland & Hart. He was widely recognized as one of the top outside patent counsel in the world, serving companies like Qualcomm, Micron, and Salesforce, among many others. Over 12 years at the firm, he grew the work he managed from $2M to $30M+ annually. His team grew to 70+ patent attorneys, agents, and engineers, and together they created new automation and workflow management solutions that were a key differentiator.
Next, we'll hear from Jason Adaska, who is a seasoned technology leader with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the legal field. His experience spans various roles, emphasizing his skill in guiding diverse teams, particularly those integrating software development with AI solutions.
In his role as Program Director at Numerica Corporation, he oversees projects that merge AI technology with real-world applications. During his time as Chief Technology Officer at Juris Futura, he effectively utilizes machine learning and AI techniques to address tangible challenges.
At Holland & Hart LLP, Jason took on the role of Director of Software Engineering and Innovation Lab. There, he managed a team of designers, developers, and data scientists, directing efforts towards AI and automation technologies. As the Software/AI Development Lead, he played a key role in the creation of the automation platform 'Atticus', aimed at optimizing legal operations through AI.
Finally, we'll host Tamara Pester Schklar as our third speaker, who is a seasoned attorney specializing in trademark and copyright protection. She is the owner and founder of tmbtq.com, a boutique firm focusing on intellectual property law, as well as the creator of the online class learntrademarks.com, which helps individuals learn about trademark protection. With over two decades of experience, Tamara has become a trusted expert in registration, and enforcement, and defense of copyright and trademark rights.
Over the past year, as Generative AI has been more widely adopted, Tamara has been working with clients with unique and interesting issues that arise with protecting the rights of creators who use AI as a tool to generate parts of their work.
We will have free pizza sponsored by Pixel Law (pixellaw.com), a virtual law firm based in Boulder. Its founder, Chris Brown, counsels startups, freelancers, and small businesses on transactional matters such as incorporations, contracts, trademarks, and more.
