Presentation abstract:

Impala: The Open Source Analytic Database for Hadoop

Although Apache Hadoop's scalability has always been impressive, it was originally designed primarily for batch processing jobs. Cloudera's Impala is one of several tools that have transformed the ecosystem, so that Hadoop clusters can be much more versatile. Impala enables SQL queries to be executed with extremely low latency over massive data sets for many concurrent users. We will cover Impala's architecture and how it works, and explore use cases to see how it fits in with the rest of a Hadoop-based enterprise data hub.
