Details

• What we'll do
10.1 mile out-and-back hiking / snowshoe trip. Whitehouse Trail to Liberty Springs Trail to Franconia Ridge Trail, then reverse down. The trip is 10.1 miles and being in Franconia Notch, the mountains are steep and unrelenting. Plan for 1.5-2mph average. Hopefully we'll have clear skies to appreciate the beautiful views of the Franconia Notch. Last week snowshoes with heel lifts were helpful climbing up and light traction was appropriate for the ridge. Everyone will be wait-listed so I can review your answers to the questions.

The parking lot is 0.5 mile north of exit 34A off I-93 on US 3. It's also just 0.1 mile north of the Flume Visitor Center in Lincoln, NH

• What to bring
Standard Winter disclaimers: no cotton, no Camelbacks, no golf course snowshoes, no KMart traction.

What you'll need are mountaineering snowshoes with heel lifts, light traction of either Hillsounds or MicroSpikes, wide-mouth Nalgene water bottle, snacks, wicking under layers, handwarmers, puffy insulating jacket, shell, facemask, glasses and goggles. Bring the 10 essentials.

• Important to know
Well-behaved trail dogs are welcome (Baxter is coming)

We will hike as a group, but will keep moving, so plan to do the same.

My mobile number is (857)600.6300. I will be in a Dark CRV with MA plates. *** Only 6 people, 10 if other organizer joins ***
*** I will close signing up at 6pm Friday night ***
