=== WHAT WE'RE DOING ===
Make your resolutions stick by whispering them on the summit of Mt Resolution on New Year's Day! With luck we should get beautiful views across Crawford Notch (picture is from last year) and to Mt. Washington if the weather is good to us.

DIFFICULTY: INTERMEDIATE DISTANCE: about 8.5 miles. PACE: Moderate, 1.5 mph on average; we will stop for breaks, views, and to smell the roses. This is a social experience, not a test or a race. We will start together, hike together, and finish together as a group.

Plan on a full day of hiking--we intend to get out by dark but could be a little late--bring a headlamp and spare batteries just in case. This hike involves significant exposure above treeline. There will likely be snow and ice, and there is definitely a tricky slab with ice on the way to the summit so you will need spikes.

TRAILHEAD: We meet at the the parking area at the base of Davis Path, Crawford Notch, NH.

Please read the entire description before you RSVP. If you underestimate the demands; overestimate your knowledge, experience, skills or abilities; or come unprepared -- you put yourself and others at risk.

• Put your name on the waitlist if you would like to go. I will add people that respond to the RSVP question(s) AND have done similar hikes within the past three months. Be sure your response went through--ask if you have questions about how to fill out the RSVP.

• No dogs. There are icy slabs where a dog can slip. I've seen it.

• This trip limited to 8 participants to responsibly reduce impacts to habitat, trails, and the experience of other hikers .

• Medical issues/ disclosures: You are responsible to disclose to the event organizer any medical issues that could complicate the hike or a potential rescue. Keep a written summary of it located within an easily accessible part of your backpack. Include an emergency contact and phone number as part of this information.

• We are prepared for typical winter conditions. However, we will cancel or modify the event due to hazardous weather or dangerous driving conditions. Final decisions will be made 24 hours prior based on solidified mountain forecasts.

=== What to Bring ===
A good gear list is here.
https://adk.org/winter-day-hiking-gear-list/
Microspikes are essential; we will bring snowshoes but will let conditions dictate if they are needed. Bring a sense of humor, a story and a smile. Everybody should also pack a toothbrush.

Do not rely on others to have extra items to share with you at the meeting spot or on the trail. You should know how to use all of your equipment - test it for fit prior to this trip.

===*RSVP QUESTIONS===
"The description contains an absurd suggestion. What is it?"

"What comparable hikes have you done in the last three months? Briefly describe them."

"What is a phone number for last minute communication?"

You must answer this question in 250 characters or less--Meetup deletes longer responses without notice. If you need to tell me more, message me please.
