Roaming Two Lakes

Seeing that the magnolias are already at their peak on the last weekend of January, I want to bring that roam forward to the 15th. The Two Lakes roam will take place on the 21st instead.
I am sorry if this change of date doesn't work for you, but I wanted to catch the magnolias at their best.

Over the years, I have often asked people to name the three fresh water lakes in the city. When we were down at Lake Merced a few months ago, I realised that we could visit two of them on one loop, so on the 15th we will be doing just that (we will visit the third in March on the 10th Anniversary roam - details to be posted soon).

We will meet at the Parkside Library on Taraval at 22nd, cross Stern Grove, skirt Stonestown, and enjoy some quieter spots at Lake Merced and Pine Lake. This is a fairly flat roam, with just a couple of blocks where we drop down into Stern Grove and back out again.

Bringing water, snacks, and layers for all the microclimates is the way to go.

Roams over the winter months are somewhat weather dependent, and this may get rescheduled depending on the forecast. I will send an email to everyone who has signed up if we have to postpone or cancel.

These roams are offered by donation. They are one way I am able to pay my rent in San Francisco.

Punctuality is always appreciated. Please send a message on the app if you are running a little late. I can usually respond to messages before we get underway, but then I won't be checking my phone. Meetup has now added a "share location" feature, so you will be able to catch up.

I know Meetup is notorious for no-shows and late changes of rsvp. I am not as strict as other organisers (we do talk to each other!), but I do track those who regularly drop off or no-show, and have disinvited a number of people with dismal attendance records, as it is discourteous for others who would like to attend.
