Memorial Day Climbing - Elizabeth Furnace

IMPORTANT: There is track work being done this weekend between the East Falls Church and West Falls Church metro stations. There are shuttle buses running between these stations, but you should factor AT LEAST an extra half-hour for the trip if you're taking Metro through that section. The last trip to
Elizabeth Furnace was a blast, so we'll do it again. This is a little more of a "adventurous" trip - harder climbing, and a longer day than some other recent trips. Plan on a great day at the crag, and a great dinner afterwards.
The Climbing We'll hit the "Roadside Crag" this time, which skips the long hike to the other EF cliffs. There are lots of roofs and overhangs here, and the routes tend to the harder side [masked]). There are bolts for sport leading, though everything can be top-roped as well.
Equipment & Experience Required for everyone: - Harness, shoes, belay device - Helmet - Lunch, snacks, 2+ liters of water (it will be hot) Experience: - You must know how to climb & top-rope belay (ie from the gym) - Outdoor climbing experience not required. This isn't a great "first time outdoors" trip, but if you're up for it feel free. Bring it if you've got it: - Climbing rope - Top-rope anchor setup (static lines, locking biners, etc) - Quickdraws - Trad gear - some routes are run-out using the bolts, so some gear is recommended.
Meetup Process We're giving priority to "meetup regulars" who have climbed with the group at least 3 times in the past 6 months. If there are still spots left on Saturday morning, non-regulars can sign up, but please email the organizers to introduce yourself.
Important Note Rock climbing equipment (especially the ropes) doesn't last forever. All of the equipment you'll be climbing on is personally owned and paid for by the Event Organizer or other members that bring their personal gear. The $10 fee is for equipment wear-and-tear, not for instructional or guide services to be provided by any of the organizers or members. The fees will go into an account that will first pay the annual Meetup dues and then be used to purchase new group-owned equipment for future outdoor events.

I didn't know about the metro problems - I've moved the time back to 9:30.
