Come find a little serenity with gorgeous Hudson river and marsh views, the Fishkill Creek, vernal ponds, an old railroad track, ruins and The Tioronda waterfalls that will take your breath away!! !

We will be walking thru Long Dock Park, picking up the Klara Sauer Trail over the bridge to the Dave Miller trail which connects with the white and red trail on to Madame Brett Park than back to the Beacon Institute with picnic tables for a break. We will continue on to do a hike at Dennings Point Park and back track from there. May do in reverse.

This hike will be approx. 3 hours(including breaks) and covers about 5-7 miles. We will be moving at a slow/moderate pace with some breaks to take it all in. The paths are paved, crushed gravel, woods trails foot bridges all mostly level with a few gentle ups and downs. One moderately steep descent and ascent to a beach on Dennings point w/ views of Bannerman Island which you can opt out of. Early out option before Dennings Point.

WATER is MANDATORY as are protein snacks so that we stay hydrated and energized. Water w/ ELECTROLYTES will help you to stay better hydrated.( can get in the supermarket or additives for water) If you want to picnic after at Pete and Toshi Park just past the train station, bring your chairs and food to be left in a cooler in your car. Don't forget the Bubbles, games, etc..
Not many picnic days left so let's enjoy the great outdoors while we can!

Hiking shoes or boots are recommended, along with sun protection, bugspray, binoculars and cameras of course for the many photo ops!

Restroom at Dennings Point may be open but there are Port o johns by the Kayak launch at Long Dock Park and Madem Brett park and Pete and Toshi Park.

Inclement weather cancels. Always check the day of an event for possible updates.

SCROLL DOWN FOR DIRECTIONS ( you can also use 55 Red Flynn Dr.) in Beacon to get you to the train station parking lot. Remember it is the lot on the RIVERSIDE OF THE TRACKS.

As with all of our events you are responsible for your own safety and that of your guests. We cannot be held liable for any injuries you may sustain. Hiking can be dangerous and injuries can occur, sometimes fatal. These events are not led by professionals and there is always the possibility of getting lost, due to downed trail signs, etc. that cannot be foreseen. You participate at your own risk. It is your responsibility to stay with the group. If you wander off you are responsible for finding your way back.

DIRECTIONS TO THE BEACON MTA TRAIN STATION COMMUTER PARKING LOT(RIVER SIDE of TRACKS)

From Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, go 1.8 miles south on Route 9D, right on Beekman St., right on Red Flynn Drive then continue straight into MTA commuter parking lot on your right. You could also use the Dia Museum as a landmark, pass it on your left going down the hill then turn right to the train commuter lot .

PLEASE GIVE YOURSELF EXTRA TIME WHEN FINDING A NEW PLACE AND DO SOME RESEARCH AS THERE ARE SEVERAL ROUTES YOU CAN USE
