The Rocky Mountain AI Interest Group (RMAIIG) invites you to an in-person meeting on Wednesday, April 9th, at 6:15 PM MST at CU Boulder to discuss “AI in Healthcare."

AI in Healthcare: From Personalized Care to Self-Improving Clinical Assistants

As artificial intelligence accelerates innovation in healthcare, this meeting will explore how adaptive, domain-specific models are transforming the way care is delivered—making it more efficient, personalized, and equitable.

We’ll examine how large language models can be refined into smaller, focused systems that assist clinicians by reviewing patient records, surfacing key details, and improving through real-world use. These self-improving tools can run on everyday clinical infrastructure, making powerful AI more accessible than ever.

The session will also highlight how AI is streamlining administrative tasks and enabling data-driven approaches to personalized treatment, clinical trial inclusion, and health equity. From decision support to drug discovery, we’ll explore how AI is driving practical, measurable impact in healthcare and the life sciences.

Thanks to our pizza sponsor, Oracle! Details below.

***NOTE NEW LOCATION***

Our first speaker, Scott Charter, Director of Cloud & AI Strategy at Oracle, will present "Putting AI into Practice in the Realm of Therapeutics, Life Sciences, and Healthcare." Scott’s talk will highlight how Oracle, following its $28B acquisition of Cerner, is using AI to modernize national-scale healthcare initiatives. He’ll discuss efforts around clinical decision support, population health, and accelerated drug discovery, all powered by a secure and scalable cloud infrastructure. Attendees will get a practical look at how Oracle and NVIDIA are working together to bring AI-driven innovation into hospitals, research labs, and care delivery systems across the globe.

With over 30 years of industry experience, Scott focuses on enabling AI adoption and training across Oracle’s North American sales and partner ecosystem.

Next, we’ll hear from Danielle Short, Senior Account Manager and Oracle Health Lead at NVIDIA on "AI for Personalized Care and Health Equity." Danielle will explore how AI is helping clinicians focus more on patient care by streamlining workflows and reducing administrative burden. She’ll share how data-driven AI tools are enabling personalized treatment, improving health outcomes, and expanding access to clinical trials and quality care—particularly for underserved communities.

Danielle brings nearly 20 years of experience bridging healthcare and technology, including past roles at Pfizer, Abbott Labs, Allergan, Insulet, and Salesforce.

Finally, Yang Liu, Senior Solutions Architect at NVIDIA, will speak on "From LLM to SLM: Building a Practical, Self-Improving Healthcare AI." Yang’s presentation will explore how large language models (LLMs) can be refined into smaller, domain-specific language models (SLMs) that operate efficiently in real clinical environments. He’ll walk us through a real-world example of a lightweight AI assistant that reviews patient records, highlights key details, and improves over time through continuous feedback. Attendees will learn how NVIDIA’s AI technologies support adaptive, resource-efficient AI systems that evolve with every patient interaction.

Yang Liu specializes in advancing AI technologies through NVIDIA's frameworks like NIM, Nemo, TensorRT, and Triton. With a robust background in computer science and engineering, Yang excels in driving innovation and enhancing AI applications across different industries.

Thanks to our pizza sponsor, Oracle, a global leader in cloud infrastructure and enterprise software. Oracle helps businesses of all sizes accelerate their digital transformation with secure, scalable and innovative AI solutions. With cutting-edge cloud services, AI capabilities, and machine learning models, Oracle empowers organizations to innovate and optimize operations, delivering high-performance solutions to meet the demands of today's rapidly evolving commercial landscape. **https://www.oracle.com/artificial-intelligence/**
