Skeptics in the Pub Calgary has been running monthly since 2008! We started presenting monthly topics in 2018, and many members of our community have either presented or suggested great topics. There is plenty of time to mingle and meet other atheists, humanists, skeptics, and overall great people.

Agenda: we will mix and mingle until about 7:30, then have a 20 minute presentation on a topic of interest, followed by group discussion.

Topic: Illogical Logics and Absurdities, with Hilarious Stories for Good Laughs

Topic The world today is scary. The internet is full of non-sensical stories and absurdities that people
will believe. Some politicians are masters at using illogical logics in their playbooks. Plenty of us
will buy into these stories based on ideology or emotions, without using any critical thinking.
Tonight’s presentation is going to be lively and lighthearted. I shall tell you a series of short
stories, about one minute each. At the end of each story, I shall challenge you, the audience, to
tell everyone what is wrong with the logic of the story. You will use the art of critical thinking to
critique the logic in the story. Most of these stories are hilarious, and everyone should have a
good laugh and enjoy the evening.

Our presenter, Stephen Sit, is a retiree who taught business management at MRU. He loves to tell jokes to his students.

A note about respectful behaviour:

We are an inclusive community of atheists, humanists, skeptics and secular freethinkers who welcome people of all backgrounds and identities.

We won't all agree all the time, but disagreement is no excuse for disrespectful behavior. Disagreements should be resolved in a constructive manner and without personal attacks. Challenge ideas not people. Do not insult or put down other participants. Harassment and other exclusionary behavior aren’t acceptable.
