Welcome to the Rocky Mountain Atheists!
The mission of the Rocky Mountain Atheists (RMA) is to be a safe and supportive secular community dedicated to serving society; to support those who have been marginalized or traumatized as a result of faith-based beliefs; and to provide and promote evidence-based learning opportunities.
RMA is so much more than a Meetup group! We typically host about 10 events per month, most of them free. Our activities include social gatherings, peer support, community service, and educational activities. We are an inclusive community of atheists, humanists, skeptics and secular freethinkers who welcome people of all backgrounds and identities.
We won't all agree all the time, but disagreement is no excuse for disrespectful behaviour. Disagreements should be resolved in a constructive manner and without personal attacks. Challenge ideas, not people. Do not insult or put down other participants. Harassment and other exclusionary behaviour aren’t acceptable.

Skeptics in the Pub Calgary has been running monthly since 2008! We started presenting monthly topics in 2018, and many members of our community have either presented or suggested great topics. In the short term (2024) we are not having a presentation planned at Skeptics - just a pub night! There is plenty of time to mingle and meet other atheists, humanists, skeptics, and overall great people. We are always trying to improve our events and experiences, thank you!
This event will take place at The Dorset Pub (https://www.thedorset.ca/ , Map Link, at 17th Ave SW and 37th St SW, Westbrook LRT). We are hopeful that this new location will make conversation easier and allow for presentations in the future as well. We are also moving to a 7PM start. But you are welcome to arrive early, or late!

In addition to RSVPing to this Meetup, you must go to https://myaccount.blood.ca/ and create an account if you do not have one. On the left hand side, there is a link for Partners (image of a bunch of people). In the My Teams section, if you aren't yet a part of the RMA team, you can search for Rocky Mountain Atheists and click "Join the Team". Then click "View the Team" next to Rocky Mountain Atheists and scroll down to schedule your appointment. If you do not use this process, you will not have an appointment on May 17th.
We are donating blood at the new Canadian Blood Services Clinic (100-207 9th Ave SW). Participants need to be at the clinic at 11am. After the donations then we will go for lunch at Bottlescrew Bill's Pub (140 10 Ave SW)

Designated complimentary parking for donors is available at the Calgary Tower parkade, just a 5 minute walk from the donor centre. There are entrances to the parkade on 9th and 10th Ave. Designated donor parking is on the west side on Level 6, near the elevator.
