Star Wars: Edge of the Empire (New Republic Era)
Details
Edge of the Empire (EotE) is a narrative-driven RPG set in the Star Wars universe's gritty fringes—think smugglers, bounty hunters, and fringe dwellers dodging Hutts, Imperials, and rival scum.
Core Mechanics: Narrative Dice System
Forget D&D's d20—EotE uses custom polyhedral dice in pools of Ability, Proficiency, Difficulty, and Challenge. Roll and tally symbols:
Success/Advantage: Move the plot forward (hits land, complications arise).
Failure/Threat: Setbacks happen (misses hurt, enemies gain edges).
Triumph/Despair: Big swings—epic boons (ally shows up) or disasters (betrayal).
Skills (e.g., Blaster, Piloting) tie to Characteristics (e.g., Agility, Intellect, rated 1-5). Boosts/Setbacks add helpful/hindering dice.
It's fast, cinematic, and story-first.
Plot Summary:
Stranded in the steam-choked jungles of Hutt Space, where Ylesia's spice groves hide more fangs than credits, you're not locals—you're the fresh-off-the-freighter crew: Jaded smugglers, exiled traders, and wide-eyed refugees docking in Pilgrim's Drift for a quick fix... only to find your shipyard contact chained in Viktor Hale's pens. This ex-Imperial's "lifeline loans" are snaring the outpost one desperate signature at a time, building a debt-fueled buffer against Besadii slavers.
As defaults hit in two days, the Drift eyes you foreigners with suspicion: Interlopers stirring the pot, or saviors worth the risk?
Pregens will be available unless you wish to build your own character before the session.
Expected length roughly 3-4 hours long.
