Exciting first time: a community member, Nilsono, reached out wanting to host her own hike, and I'm helping her set it up. Amazing initiative!

Think of this as the pilot, first time we're running a hike like this, and her first time hosting anything as well.

Saturday 18 July.
Meeting 10:30 and setting off 10:45 (timed to beat the summer heat) from Stovner metro (Narvesen Stovner T-bane, Stovner), walking through Liastua, around Gubberhaugen and Kjerringfred on the blue trail / pilgrim path, about 2–3 hours total.

Two viewpoints along the way:

One looking out over Groruddalen toward the fjord, one toward Nittedal.

There are two path options (a steep staircase section, or a gentler forest trail); she'll pick on the day depending on who shows up. If Liastua is open, there might be a waffle/coffee stop along the way.

No hiking experience needed. Nilsono lives right by the route and knows it well, she'll keep the pace friendly for whoever shows up, and she's already said she'll go easy on the group.
I haven't done this route myself yet, so i want to check it out some time, maybe if this become a recurring event.

An important and unique note:

I won't actually be there in person, im still away with my grandparents, so it's Nilsono running the day with me backing her up on WhatsApp if she needs anything.

Worth knowing before you sign up:

Parts of the route (the stairs) can be demanding and tough on the knees at times. You don't need to be in great shape, just comfortable with some stairs and a couple of hours on your feet.
There are a few benches on the way up if you want to catch your breath. This is a group hike start to finish: nobody walks alone, and if you're faster than others, you wait at the top for the last person, and this isn't the day to try and set a personal best on the stairs.

Adequate breaks along the way, finishing back down at Stovnertårnet.

Bring:

Food, plenty to drink, sunscreen, and good walking shoes.
Because this is a first-time pilot: expect a small group (we're keeping RSVPs to about 15 for this one), a few things figured out as we go, and flexibility if the current heatwave changes the plan.

Cost:

Free. Bring your own food and drink.

When / where:

Saturday 18 July, meeting 10:30 outside Stovner metro station. Comment if you have questions.
