About us
Most people never try outdoor climbing because the barrier feels too high — gear, technical knowledge, no obvious starting point.
This group exists to remove that barrier.
Every Wednesday this spring and summer, I run a free outdoor climbing orientation at Flagstaff Mountain, just above Boulder. No gear, no experience, no commitment required. Show up curious — everything else is provided. You'll get on real rock, learn the fundamentals, and leave knowing whether this is something you want to pursue.
Not ready to show up yet? The Free Intro to Outdoor Climbing course at ropewranglers.com gives you a feel for what outdoor climbing actually involves.
For climbers who want to go further, the group also hosts small-group outdoor clinics covering anchors, rope systems, and lead climbing — the skills that build real independence outside.
Your guide: Matt King · AMGA Single Pitch Instructor · Wilderness First Responder · 20+ years climbing in Colorado. Focused on understanding, not just getting to the top.
Visit ropewranglers.com for clinic dates and booking.
