Details
ROS By-The-Bay is the Bay Area's only meetup exclusively for Robot Operating System (ROS) users. This month we'll have two speakers, a ROSCon, and plenty of time to chat with your fellow developers. Whether your just starting to learn about robotics, or a seasoned industry veteran, ROS By-The-Bay is a great event for connecting with other local roboticists.
After a summer conference hiatus we're back! Please note that we're back to meeting in our old location 250 Mayfield Ave. 250 Mayfield is the annex building next to the main Google X building at 100 Mayfield Ave.
Our speakers this month will include:
- Lingkang Zhang, founder of Red Rabbit Robotics, will present his work on an open source hardware and software humanoid robot the RX1. The RX1 is based on ROS 1 and includes a Gazebo simulation.
- Brandon Ong, a cloud robotics engineer at Intrinsic will present his work on a fuzzy-matching trajectory cache for MoveIt 2 that allows you to put and fetch manipulator trajectories, keyed fuzzily on certain start and goal planning parameters. It's been a feature request that's been pending for seven years! The talk will discuss the benefits of using such a cache, how it works, best practices for how to use it, and some limitations and future work to make it a full drop-in solution for production use cases.
