About us
Our vision is for lower Rose Creek to be an open space park providing recreational and learning opportunities and a clean, healthy, aesthetically pleasing environment for residents, visitors, businesses, and native plants and animals, while serving as an accessible link for bicyclists and pedestrians to move between Rose Canyon Park, Marian Bear Park, Mission Bay Park, and surrounding communities. We invite everyone to help us make the dream a reality by habitat restoration, community cleanups, and nature walks. For more information, visit our website.

Rose Creek Guided Bird Stroll (Free)
Mission Bay High School, 2475 Grand Avenue, San Diego, Ca, USJoin us for a collaboration between the San Diego Bird Alliance and the Friends of Rose Creek as we explore the birds of the Rose Creek Salt Marsh and upstream habitat.
Kyle will be our guide.
No birding experience required.
We will have binoculars available for use during the walk thanks to the San Diego Bird Alliance.Please register with the Bird Alliance ahead of time or on site the day of the event. They need to show their sponsors that they are doing good work at Rose Creek. Please click here to pre-register.
Stay for as long or as short as you wish. We usually have the best bird sightings around sunset!
This bird stroll is on mostly level ground, often paved and suitable for all ages. Unfortunately, the entire walk is not wheelchair accessible. If you or someone who wants to attend uses a wheelchair, please message us for how you can join for the wheelchair friendly stretch of the walk.

Low tide will be at 4:34 PM and the tide will be rising. High tide is at 10:33 PM, with sunset at 7:16 PM. Remember, we will be at the coast and often times it gets cooler around sunset. Plan accordingly.

Seed Harvesting Workshop
Henter Education Center @ Kendall Frost Marsh, 2055 Pacific Beach Drive, San Diego, CA, USLearn how to harvest and store native plant seeds
Join us for an exciting workshop by Kelcy Coleman, Native Seed Library program Coordinator at the San Diego Bird Alliance. She has expertise in harvesting and cleaning native seeds and is eager to share her knowledge.
With deep love for the plants we harvested from Rose Creek, in this workshop we will learn how to clean and properly store the native seeds.
Kelcy was born and raised in northern Colorado and graduated from Colorado State University where she explored the mountains, rivers, lakes, sand dunes, and grasslands before discovering the ocean was calling to here. She is passionate about protecting call coastal and marine wildlife and their habitats. She advocates for endangered species and hopes to inspire others to support healthy ecosystems.
Meetings take place at UC San Diego’s Henter Education Center in Kendall-Frost Mission Bay Marsh Reserve.

6:00 – 6:30 PM Meet and Greet with light refreshments. (On the deck when daylight permits, otherwise in the Henter Education Center)
6:30 – 7:00ish PM Seed Harvesting Workshop
7:00ish – 8:00 PM Friends of Rose Creek Business Meeting open to the public.Please note that no dogs or other pets are allowed in the Kendall-Frost Mission Bay Marsh Reserve. No smoking allowed!
All attendees must sign a waiver at the event. If you are under 18, please download, have your parent or guardian sign it, and bring it with you. If you are under 13, please bring your parent or guardian. If you are 18 or older, you can sign the group waiver at the meeting. La renuncia en español
