SMU and Meadows Museum Visit
Details
I've been wanting to plan a walk to the beautiful SMU campus when students aren't around so decided Christmas Break would be a great time - it's way too hot during the summer break! Plus, the Meadows Museum on campus currently has a couple of photographer exhibits (one of them being Dallas' own Laura Miller) so let's go check it out (https://meadowsmuseumdallas.org/exhibitions/current-and-upcoming/)! Hopefully, a Sunday afternoon walk will allow some of the working folks to participate.
Logistics: Meet at the Rowlett DART Station parking lot in the area near the corner of Martin and Industrial at 1:00 pm if you want to carpool/caravan over to SMU. If you want to meet at SMU, plan to meet at the Meadows Museum about 1:45 - address is 5900 Bishop Blvd., Dallas. It looks like there is some surface parking plus a parking garage. We'll visit the Meadows Museum first - admission is $12.00 adults and $10.00 seniors (65+) and you can buy tickets online, but assume you can also buy tickets once there. Photography for personal use is encouraged, but no flash or tripods.
After we are done with the museum, let's explore the campus a bit, either by walking or driving (probably more driving). I've been there, shot a bit, but am certainly no expert on what's there so we'll play it by ear. Regular walkabout lens should suffice here.
Dinner: After we're done shooting around the campus, let's head over to the original Campisi's (probably the only one worth visiting) at 5610 E. Mockingbird Lane. There were always rumors going around about how this place was tied into the Mafia, and the couple of times I've been there, I have to agree! But, let's go have some fun.
Anyway, hope this sounds like a fun excursion between Christmas and New Year's Eve so hope you can join us. As always, weather can be a factor in the winter, so be sure and check for any weather-related cancellations.
