Street: People, Places, and Things -- Henri Cartier-Bresson
Details
Since I'm running this walk with Melissa's assistance for Ron due to his work conflict, here are the details of my plans:
Meet at the Rowett DART Station at 2:00 pm for the 2:16 pm train; we will arrive at the St. Paul Station at 2:52 if you want to meet us there.
In order to kill 2 birds blah blah blah, I'm incorporating the locations in Ron's 2026 architecture challenge for January into this walk. We will walk from the St. Paul Station to Comerica Bank Tower, then to the Bank of America Tower, then to Reunion Tower. Some sights along the route are Thanksgiving Square, the Eyeball, Kennedy Memorial, Old Red Courthouse, and others. We can take as much or little time as everyone likes and everyone is free to deviate the route and meet back up along the way. If any interest, we can take the streetcar (included in DART fare) from Union Station by Reunion Tower to the Houston Street Viaduct (Greenbriar Stop) and shoot the skyline from the bridge or Trinity River levee. This would be golden hour at the latest so tripods shouldn't be necessary. Walk about and/or wide angle lens for architecture. We will get on the DART train at Union Station for the return trip, although we may stop for dinner somewhere downtown if people would like to do so.
We will attempt to duplicate Henri Cartier-Bresson's style on our walk so be sure and research his photography.
This is our monthly street photography walk. The walk is to focus on studying the masters of photography in street photography by repeating their methods on a walk.
Each month will have a specific master to study and consider.
Generally each walk starts at the Dart Station in Rowlett.
This year's format has changed to more of a self driven model...i.e, you chose the depth and areas you wish to research for the particular photographer. There are some suggested materials but weather you review those or others is up to you. The important thing is you grasp the photographer's areas of focus.

Biography
Henri Cartier-Bresson is widely regarded as the father of modern photojournalism and street photography. Born in Chanteloup-en-Brie, France, he initially studied painting before picking up a Leica camera in the early 1930s. His concept of the "decisive moment"—capturing the split second when all visual elements align perfectly—became the foundational philosophy of street photography.
In 1947, he co-founded Magnum Photos, the legendary cooperative photo agency. Throughout his career, he documented major world events, from the Spanish Civil War to Gandhi's funeral in India. His work emphasized observation over technical manipulation; he famously never cropped his images and covered his camera's chrome with black tape to remain inconspicuous.
