Let's go shoot a local small carnival in Garland at golden hour, blue hour and after dark (https://emctickets.com/biggarlandfair/). If you want to ride together from Rowlett, be at the Rowlett DART station parking area near the corner of Martin and Industrial at 7:15 pm. If you want to meet at the event, plan to meet at the entrance at about 7:30 pm. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online or at the gate, I believe. Ticket is good for any day so if this evening were to be rainy, your ticket can be used another day and we can reschedule. Website shows parking purchased online is $10 or $15 at the gate, but when you go to buy a parking pass, it shows $12 (SMH) and should also be good for any time. Since it does cost to park, I recommend carpooling if possible.
WARNING!! Here is the allowed bag size information so you can't bring a backpack full of lenses! If you do want to shoot with more than one lens, I would suggest getting a small clear backpack or tote that could carry an extra lens or two. "Any non-clear bags that do not exceed 4.5” x 6.5” in size, which is approximately the size of a hand bag with or without a handle/strap, such as a small clutch purse. Clear bags that do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12”. Outside food and beverages are not permitted inside the venue."
So, as far as what lens to bring, if you only bring one, I would suggest your normal walk around lens or maybe a fast lens for shooting at night.
Hope this sounds like something fun to do, is a little bit different and should be later in the day without the hot sun beaming down on us.
Please comment if you will meet at the DART station or the event and whether you could give a ride or need a ride.
