RTPC Monthly Daytime Photo Walk

Details
For March, let's see if our weather cancelled February plans will work out and head north a bit and visit the town of Gainesville TX (my mother's birthplace for some random tidbit of information). Gainesville is the county seat of Cooke County and some of us visited there briefly in August 2021 for brunch and I got my courthouse photos, but we didn't spend a lot of time there. It looked like a good spot to return to in the future.
If you want to carpool/caravan from Rowlett, meet at the Rowlett DART Station parking lot near the corner of Martin and Industrial at 9:15 am. If you want to meet up in Gainesville, plan to meet at the Cooke County Courthouse at 101 S. Dixon St. in Gainesville at about 10:30-10:45. We will wander around for about 1.5-2 hours or so and take photos, then meet back up at a designated spot and go to lunch, probably about 12:15-12:45, whenever everyone gets back from shooting.
For lunch, I'm going to suggest The County Seat Kitchen and Cocktails at 105 W. California or Sarah's on the Square at 115 W. California. Both have great reviews and a fairly nice selection of lunch options. We can decide once we get to Gainesville.
While looking at Gainesville, I noticed they have a small zoo, the Frank Buck Zoo (1000 W. California St.; Gainesville). Admission is $7.50 (55+ or military ID) or $9.00 regular admission. If anyone is interested, we could go there after lunch and investigate as sometimes these small zoos are more fun than the big ones. Of course, the zoo would be totally optional, depending on interest and I know sometimes we are ready to head home after lunch.
Anyway, I hope this sounds fun and hope to see you on this walk. As always, our plans can be derailed by bad weather so we just watch the forecast for our planned outings and understand we might need to adjust our plans.

Every 2nd Thursday of the month until December 11, 2025
