Figure 8 Cruiser (49mi/1400')

Details

I'm bringing back the Figure 8 Cruiser. This ride is nice and easy at less than 50 miles and 1500'. And, there is a bakery stop at the halfway point. Slow Rise Bakehouse has all kinds of delectable treats; I recommend all of them!

We will start at Farmington Paddle Launch and make our way up and over Clark Hill, the only climb of the ride, and it's a short one. From here we pass through Scholl's, around the South Store Cafe, and on to Vanderschuere Road. We'll continue on McCormick Hill Road to Laurel and take it easy today by skipping Holly Hill. After crossing Hillsboro Highway and a quick left towards Rood Bridge we have completed the bottom portion of the Figure 8.

We'll continue on the flats toward Forest Grove. I'm skipping Riedweg and opting for the flatter Johnson School Road. Although, I'm easily persuaded. Cruising around Forest Hills Golf Course, out Geiger, Fern Hill, and we are nearly to the bakery.

After a stop at Slow Rise Bakehouse it is back to the grind. Meandering our way around Pacific University we pick up on Porter Road and pass through Verboort. A few turns later and we find ourselves on the recently paved, so smooth, Roy Road.

I know this is starting to look like a Velo route, but bare with me. From Roy, to Wren, Leisy, Padgett, and we are in the suburbs of Hillsboro. We will wind our way through Hillsboro, across the TV highway, and a short stint on River Road. We'll make our way past Rood Bridge Park and around the corner to the start at FPL.

Level: Speedy Intermediate. This is not a beginner ride, nor is it a racing ride.

15-17 mph average pace for this no-drop ride. We'll regroup at the top of hills and when necessary. Guidelines for this ride are: safety, flexibility, and communication.

Everyone must have a copy of the route on their device, printed out, or in their head. If you decide to give it a try and maybe cut out early, you need to be able to find your way back to the start.

Weather Cancellation Policy:
Rain/wind will cancel/reschedule this event, or I may just move to Zwift. I'll post the weather forecast from Epic Ride Weather the day before.

Mandatory for all riders:
At least 2 full water bottles and snacks.
No earbuds.
Helmets must be worn at all times while riding.
Obey traffic laws, and remember you’re a representative of the greater cycling community.

Have your ride in good working order and bring a flat kit & the right size spare tube on all rides. If there is an issue with proper working or lack of equipment, you may be asked to sit the ride out.
