UNDERSTANDING POLARISATION IN SOCIETY TODAY

These Steiner lectures may help to understand the polarisation evident in many societies today. Given in March 1923, they look at the handover of rulership of cosmic thought by the Exousai (Spirits of Form) to the Archai. This handover took place in the 4th century AD but its effects are ongoing. Since the Archai are closer to humanity than the Exousai, it was thereby intended that through a transformation of consciousness humanity would be led to free independent thought. However, certain backward Exousai refuse to give control of cosmic thought to the Archai and their impulses foster chauvinistic, old-testament attitudes and burgeoning social polarisation.
