About us
C-ville RUG was founded in July 2011 by Bethany Pritchard, a Revit enthusiast and BIM consultant to several firms in Charlottesville at the time. Today she is the Director of Design Technology at VMDO Architects. The group has grown over the years and is managed by a board of directors where Bethany is joined by Sidney Griffin, Matthew Kavanaugh, William Abrahamson, Robert Glover, Sal DiPietro, Karim Habbab, John Trevor and Ying Fan.
We are a collaborative group, sharing tips and tricks as well as best practices, processes and workflows for working with Autodesk Revit and related software. Anyone who currently works with Revit or is interested in learning more about it is invited to join our group.
Experienced group members are happy to share their experiences to advise and guide prospective offices considering an upgrade to Revit. You’ll find out what it really takes to make the transition and if you’re ready to take the plunge!
C’ville RUG has consistently provided high quality education and networking opportunities for area AEC professionals from all disciplines. Attendance draws from across Central VA and since we moved to hybrid meetings has grown to include members joining form all across the country virtually.
C’ville RUG has hosted national BIM industry leaders and offered a platform for local practitioners to present topic specific expertise while always providing an open forum for peer-to-peer learning on technical solutions, practice management, and exposure to cutting-edge technologies (3D scanning, construction coordination, AR/VR, generative design, energy/carbon design strategies, AI, third party add-ins, etc.).

Roundtable Workshop: Forma Workflows: Project Templates, Forms and Issues, and Shared Resources

Session Description
Teams across our membership have moved project collaboration from BIM 360 to Autodesk Construction Cloud, now part of Autodesk Forma, and each has landed on its own approach to setting up and running projects there.
This session has three parts, each opening with a short live demo followed by open discussion.
First, moderators from three firms will walk through how they build a new project from a template: folder structure, roles, permissions, and the settings they standardize from the start.
Next, Robert will show how his team uses forms, reports and issues to track project information and coordination items, including what has and has not been worth the setup effort.
Finally, Bethany and Ying will demonstrate how VMDO hosts and shares common resources so project teams work from a single, current source.
