What we’re about

This group is a forum for Trail Running in Central Switzerland and in the Alps generally, both in weekdays and weekends.

We will normally use the Wanderweg network of trails.

There are over 60,000 kilometres of marked trails in Switzerland? How many different of those do you know?

People are welcome to organise events at any level on a non charging basis. Just drop me a message and I can grant you event organiser status. It takes no time to learn how to post an event. You can view it as draft, and edit it as many times as you wish before you announce it.

Be nice to others and use common sense.

Feel free to post in German if you prefer.

I have located the group as a Zürich group in terms of broad catchment area of runners but the idea is to run in mountains at least half an hour away by train…

Trail running can be many things. The common theme is to be out in nature. Most people end up in trail running after running normally in towns and on hard surfaces. They run one day in nature and their legs feel less pounding, they breathe cleaner air, they see some nice sights and they get hooked. A small group get hooked on to trail races, and use them as a way of testing themselves. A small group may be very fast mountain hikers that one day realise they can run on flats and downs. A small group or trail runners like very steep and exposed terrain. The terrain will be as varied as the motivations of runners.  One common theme, nature.

If you want to arrange runs following a particular trail two invaluable resources are the paid version of www.schweizmobil.ch and some gadget to follow gps tracks.
