What we're about

The purpose of our group is to provide a positive and welcoming setting to practice speaking Russian and meet other Russian speakers. We meet every Thursday currently at Ankara Turkish restaurant for a happy hour style get together and every 1st and 3rd Sundays at Ruz Uz for a seated brunch. We ask that you keep the conversation in Russian as much as possible.

Russian conversation and food at Rus Uz - CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Ruz Uz - Russian Uzbek Cuisine

Event is cancelled until further notice; due to Covid

This Arlington Meetup at Restaurant Rus Uz (near Ballston Metro) is our popular first Sunday of the Month Meetup of the DC Russian Language Meetup. Russian speakers can gather for Russian language conversation, food and friendship. We meet two Sundays of every month--the first and third. Please join us and bring your Russian speaking friends. Everyone is welcome, but please keep conversation in Russian only. And please try to RSVP, this is a restaurant and we try to give them reasonably accurate estimate of how many will be attending. Спасибо!

Weekly Russian Conversation at Ankara - CANCELED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Please note that our weekly Russian Language Conversation is cancelled until the coronavirus situation allows for indoor, in person meetups. We hope that it will again take e place at:
Ankara Turkish & Mediterranean Restaurant,[masked]th St NW, Washington, DC 20036. This is very close to Metro Dupont Circle South exit.
We hope that the restaurant will be open again when we can meet.

Everyone is welcome, but please keep conversation in Russian only. For many of us, this is our only chance to practice our Russian. There are happy hour prices available.

Timing: Someone is usually there at 5:30, but it sometimes takes me till 5:45 or so. If you get there first, please wait - we will be there! And people are usually there till at least 8. So if you can't make it right at the beginning, that is perfectly fine.

RSVP's: I encourage you to RSVP. But please know that many people don't RSVP. So it may seem like only 3 people are planning to attend, but have no fear, we usually have a good-sized fun group! (And we almost always have newcomers. So if you are planning on coming for the first time, you most likely won't be the only one.)

See you there!

Русские посиделки в Зуме

Online event

Dear members! The purpose of our club is simply to socialize, but speaking only in Russian, with rare exceptions. While we use English in our daily lives, we speak only Russian during our online and in-person meetings. If your level of understanding of spoken Russian is less than advanced, unfortunately you won't be able to keep up with the conversations. We are not a learners group. Pretty much only fluent or very advanced intermediate, or native speakers attend our meetings. Although some join, "just to listen" we are now actively discouraging that. For those who just want to listen - you will be far better off finding a Russian language radio or TV station. There are conversation clubs for early learners that are part of language schools available online. (For example, Zlatoust publishing in St. Petersburg, very inexpensive: https://www.facebook.com/events/240840107283318/). For the rest of you, please continue reading.

Дополнительно: начало именно в 6:30 PM EST. Если Вы подключесь раньше времени, не удивляйтесь, если никого нет, или есть кто-то, кто не прочитал это предупреждение :)
