Talk Details - Rust as a modern language in the unofficial Signal client Whisperfish
In an era where digital communication is omnipresent, protecting user privacy has become more important than ever. This talk explores the technical implementation of secure messaging on mobile platforms, using Whisperfish — an independent native Signal client for Sailfish OS — as a case study. Whisperfish is built entirely in Rust and leverages the Signal Protocol to ensure end-to-end encrypted communication with the Signal servers.
Talk Details: Modern Frontends with Rust & WebAssembly in a Typescript World
In a landscape dominated by JavaScript and TypeScript, Rust and WebAssembly (Wasm) are emerging as powerful allies for building high-performance, secure, and scalable web applications. This talk explores how Rust can complement modern frontend stacks and what this means for the future of web development. We'll dive into real-world use cases, tooling, and best practices and build our own frontend in the following workshop.
Workshop Details: Rust as an alternative to React and Angular
Discover how Rust can be a compelling alternative to traditional frontend frameworks like React and Angular. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll start with a prebuilt Yew-based frontend project and explore its architecture, tooling, and capabilities.
