For our third meetup of 2025, and we two amazing speakers lined up for you. This is going to be a jam packed night!

  • Evan Schwartz will speak about Scour, which provides a custom, personalized feed for you that matches your interests. It scours HN, Reddit, etc. and surfaces things you would be interested in, using vector embeddings for semantic search. And it's lightning fast! The feed loads in 100ms. Under the hood, it's implemented with Maud, Axum, SQLx and HTMx. Find out how it works, and how Evan made it so darn snappy!
  • Brendan O'Brien will talk about Iroh, the best way to create direct connections between devices. If it can't make a direct connection, it falls back to using a series of trusted relays. These connections are authenticated and encrypted end-to-end using QUIC.

Come on down to the Materialize HQ! Doors open at 6:30pm to give people plenty of time to grab pizza and socialize, and then the talks start at 7:10!

It should be a good time! Hope to see you there!

And this month, we're extremely excited to announce that Lawrence Harvey is Rust NYC's official recruitment partner sponsor!
