The history of the Earth includes both astronomy and geology. Various books have been written by naturalists and Christians describing the evidence for this fine-tuning — Rare Earth, How to Build a Habitable Planet, The Privileged Planet, Improbable Planet, and Designed to the Core. This last one covers a comprehensive summary of how the universe of galaxies is so unique for advanced life to be possible. Ken will share some highlights from astronomy, and then focus on the geology and geochemistry of the Earth about four topics: 1. Earth’s Magnetic Field; 2. Plate Tectonics; 3. Water; and 4. Earth’s Atmosphere. This is God’s creation story of the exquisite fine-tuning of the Earth’s core, mantle, crust, water cycle, and composition of the atmosphere that are so unique for advanced life to exist, and for us to be here as God’s image bearers. This presentation is based largely, though not exclusively, on the book Designed to the Core by Hugh Ross. Part 1 of this presentation covers approximately the first half of this book.

There are many reasons to believe that a Creator (commonly called God) exists. Evidence for Faith normally focuses on scientific evidence that points toward the God of the Bible. But there are other lines of thought. Consider
1. the First Mover argument,
2. the Moral, argument,
3. the argument from conscience,
4. testimonies of answered prayer
5. the Ontological argument
6. the argument from desire.
None of these give the certainty of a mathematical proof, but together and combined with scientific evidence, they become compelling.

But believe in God's existence is not the end game. The Bible says that the devil believes and trembles. The Bible also says that to please God one must believe that He is, AND that he rewards those who diligently seek Him. It is this second part where it transcends intellectual debate and engages our hearts because God is worth the effort to seek.
