Approaching Human Trafficking in Southern Oregon by Lauren Trantham

Human trafficking, or human slavery, is happening all around us. It isn’t new, and it’s much more than the recent headlines. It’s happening every day here close to our homes, more than most people realize.
In this presentation, Lauren will expose the root causes of trafficking, how and where it happens, and how Southern Oregon communities can take meaningful actions to stop it. Learn how to identify trafficking within your immediate community, and hear inspiring stories about Lauren and her teams’ successes.

Lauren Trantham is an author, speaker, and business owner with nearly a decade of experience as a leader in the Anti-Human Trafficking Movement. She is the founder and Executive Director of Disruptors Org (formerly Ride My Road), which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for survivor-led initiatives. Lauren has ridden her motorcycle tens of thousands of miles across the United States, meeting and photographing over 100 American survivors of trafficking, with a focus on celebrating survivor triumphs.

Lauren is a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in the foster care system, and she sits on the Steering Committee of the Jackson County Coalition Against Trafficking.
She is the recent recipient of the Above and Beyond Award from the Oregon Department of Justice for her work in the trafficking movement. She is currently receiving her Master’s Degree in Social Justice and Human Rights from ASU, and is the producer of the Southern Oregon Human Trafficking Disruptors Summit.
