Chamber of Commons Movement with Catie Faryl and Suzia Aufderheide

Be surprised by revisiting an ancient concept in a new and important light. The Chamber of Commons seeks to update citizens’ awareness and commitment to reclaiming and preserving all that we share.

Our mission is to inspire and encourage a viable future based on practical wisdom, common sense and the awareness of “all that we share”. If we don’t address our interference with Earth’s ability to sustain life, the future is not viable.

While privatization continues to absorb land, water and energy resources- it is time for the people to assert their concern and care for The Commons. Come learn about the history, aspects, and how we can restore the Commons concept into communities.

Catie Faryl is an Oregon artist and community organizer. She is a member of the Bellview Grange, Phoenix Grange and Southern Oregon Pachamama Alliance, a group that has organized efforts to curb the climate crisis and build sustainable systems in Southern Oregon. She is currently a leader in the Chamber of Commons movement, which she is advancing along with other local community members.

Catie’s previous careers as a public housing administrator, a realtor, and Ashland Gallery Association staff person have helped her be effective in addressing community and environmental issues.

As an Oregon resident for over 35 years, she’s made many connections with local organizations developing solutions and creating understanding of our current systems’ challenges and future needs.

Suzia Aufderheide is a family member, landlord and seeker of truth living in Ashland, Oregon for 40 years. During her early career, she worked in New York City as a receptionist and ceiling tile specialist […]

After two years in accounting, she knew the corporate world was not for her. Later, as a single mother of six she supported her family by doing childcare, insurance sales, videography, and radio/TV production. Presently, she owns an up-cycled clothing business with her daughter.

The Chamber of Commons hopes to connect community to help remember our inherent connection to the Commons.
