Mount Diablo is our region’s most visible landmark. Diablo is geologically complex, with a core of ancient oceanic basalt jutting up against folded and faulted metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Attendees will get an understanding of the fascinating geology that created this magnificent mountain.
The presenter, Dot Lofstrom, is a retired California Registered Geologist who was Division Chief from the California Environmental Protection Agency. She earned her B.S. in Geology from Missouri State University, her M.S. degree from University of Missouri-Columbia, and has over thirty years soil and groundwater contamination cleanup experience. Dot is a 30-year resident of Stockton and is dedicating herself to actively giving back to the community. She and Robin enjoy hiking, subscribing to the Stockton Symphony, and attending local and regional theater. She is delighted to speak at the Sierra Club and visit with like-minded people who care about the earth.
