Day Hike (2A) South Grove Trail, Calaveras Big Trees SP
Details
See the giant sequoias on this out and back hike in Calaveras Big Trees State Park, 5 miles, 700 ft gain. The pace will be slow with frequent stops. Bring lunch and liquids. Trail is mostly shaded, bug repellent is advised.
Rain or high heat cancels. No dogs (park rule). Gear list and other information will be provided after approval.
Optional carpool at the Starbucks in Eastland Plaza in Stockton. Drive and park at the South Grove trailhead, which is inside the park, ~8 miles from the visitor center. If you enter Calaveras Big Trees South Grove trailhead into your maps app, it should pop up. There is an entrance fee into the park.
