The Story of S3 Leagues:
Here we are.
Either A) We just made it through another brutal Chicago winter, and spring is almost upon us or B) Sadly, outdoor activities are coming to an end. Whatever the case, we always need to break up the week with something fun to do that takes our mind off of the daily grind right?
That’s where I got the idea for S3 Simply Social Sports Leagues back in 2009. While at a bar one day talking to friends about the need for a better overall rec league experience, the idea of S3 came together on a bar napkin (for real!). Obviously in the warmer months there’s an endless amount of events and places to hang, and in the winter uh…there’s not that much. Being active and playing in a social sports league is the most popular group activity by far, and truly a rite of passage in Chicago. After your first season you’ll want to be signed up for one (or more) at all times.
That’s where S3 comes in. Your knight in shining armor. Here to whisk you away on its white horse of action and meeting people while playing coed social sports. In THE MOST organized and welcoming way possible.
Speaking of meeting people, a league is THE BEST way to do that! Sure one night events are fun, but you can’t form lasting relationships over a 10 minute conversation. During a 5-8 week season with the same team and entire league at our post-game bar, it’s easy to make connections with others! Maybe you meet the love of your life (happens A LOT) or maybe you make new friends. Either way, those are hard to come by and a social rec league makes that happen.
It seems like everyone wants to play on an intramural sports team, but often times find it difficult to organize a group of people to sign up a whole squad. Sure having your company sponsor a team or having an organized friend take charge and get a crew built is awesome and definitely welcome in S3. But what if you could join a team either by yourself or with friends and get placed on a team with other people around your age, half guys half girls, for a league GUARANTEED? Sound cool? Well it is! And we do that! In every league! Join and you’re in.
So if you are the kind of person who likes to get to know folks and play a little recreational sports while you’re at it, REGISTER TODAY! Then just sit tight til you get updates and information on your season.
What’s the catch you ask? There’s only one. Well two. First, come every week excited to have a good time playing and hanging out with your fellow Chicagoans. That one’s easy. Sure winning is nice, but teams/players choose to join our leagues specifically because they’re not frustratingly competitive and we’re more focused on enjoying our day/night. The second is better for me. When you meet a special someone or make a lifelong friend, not only will I be incredibly happy for ya, but you are allowed to buy me a “Thanks Ben” drink at the bar when you see me. And I’ve happily accepted many of these drinks 🙂

This August & September, join us for a season of Simply Social fun! There's absolutely nothing better than participating in a recreational, all-skill levels welcome intramural league! It's so nice getting to know new people in a really laid back way over the length of a season, playing games and then over drinks at your walkable league sponsor bar afterwards with all teams.
We've got Kickball, 16" Softball, Beach Volleyball, Singles Skeeball (for singles!) and Family Feud Trivia. They're all a blast!

North Ave Beach Tues-Fri 5-Week Coed Rec 6s Leagues! Sign up solo or a full team
North Ave Beach, 1603 N Jean Baptiste Pointe du Sable Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, IL, USHey all! For the past 17 years, I've been running coed 6 vs 6 leagues on Tues, Wed, Thurs and Fri nights where ALL SKILL LEVELS are welcome! They're all super fun and you can join by yourself or with friends! Plus after games for each league, all teams walk to the same bar to hang out and get exclusive specials (like some free beer).
If you want to hit the beach for social volleyball games while meeting new people, these leagues are perfect for you :)------------------------------
So what makes S3 Simply Social Sports Leagues so popular and unique?
S3 Leagues are way more than just leagues. First, I run the most welcoming and organized all-levels social league experience in the city. Full teams do register a lot, but you can also join as an individual or with friends and I'll put you on a team of others around your age (teams made for ages 21-42). This provides each player with a unique experience where meeting others and having post-game drinks with everyone is just as important as the games themselves.
Gotta miss a week or two? No problem! There are 5 guys and 5 girls on each free agent team because we know people can't make it every week.
SIGN UP to play by yourself or with friends and get placed on a coed team of others around your age for the season! It's just $70 per player or $595 per full team on Tues/Wed/Thurs. And $65 per player or $525 per full team on Fridays.

$5 First Fridays Stand Up Comedy Shows at Chicago's best venue!
The World Famous Laugh Factory, 3175 North Broadway Street, Chicago, IL, USThe Laugh Factory in Lakeview (Broadway & Belmont) is open for comedy and we all could use some laughs! We always get A LOT of people to attend these shows. Often times over 100 Meetup members!
If you attend by yourself or with friends and want to be seated in the Meetup group section, simply request this when you check in at the ticket booth! Then just say hi to those around you :)
Every First Friday of the month we get $5 TICKETS to their shows at 7:00, 9:15 & 11:30 pm. They're ALWAYS hilarious!

*You can purchase tickets for several people and multiple shows this night through the link. No physical tickets will be issued. Your name will be on a list at the door and all tickets will be under the purchaser's name. Groups of up to 6 people can be sat together if arriving together.
Please Note: These shows are for ages 18+ w/ ID. If you show up after start time you will not be able to enter. There is a 2 drink minimum per person per show (non-alcoholic or alcoholic). Drinks are reasonably priced, and a comedy show is funnier with a few drinks, so this shouldn't be an issue with how cheap our tickets are :) Also, an 18% service fee (aka gratuity) will be applied to all drink tabs at payment to be given directly to service staff.
No refunds or exchanges but tickets can be transferred.

Is there parking? Street parking and some garages are available throughout the area. However, public transit, ridesharing apps, and taxi services are highly encouraged.
What is the dress code? There is no dress code. Be comfortable!

Our 13th Annual AMAZING River Tubing BYOB Float Trip w/ All You Can Eat Taco Bar
Riverside Rentals, 589 E Old State Rd 14, Winamac, IN, USGrab your floaties and coolers and JOIN US on our 13th annual float trip! Hang out with 2 busloads (110 people!) of fun-loving and friendly Meetup folks for THE BEST day trip EVERRRRR!
This trip is an amazing way to get out of the city and onto tubes floating down a river with a drink in hand under the warm summer sun. You just can't beat it :) And these trips sell out REALLY early, so SAVE YOUR SPOTS here right away!
THE TRIP INCLUDES OUR DELICIOUS ALL YOU CAN EAT TACO BAR LUNCH! After a float and some drinks, there's nothing better than chowing down on an all you can eat taco bar lunch! This includes hard and soft shells, ground beef, shredded chicken, lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese, sour cream, rice, and chips & salsa!! Yummmmmmm.
It's only $93 to attend! Well actually $96.73 because there's a $3.73 processing fee per ticket that we have to pay. Also, the cost of our buses went up $7/person & lunch up $4/person, so we had to increase the price to cover that. Thankfully, it's still worth it for what will absolutely be the best day of your summer!

THE TRIP INCLUDES:
- Round trip coach bus transportation. We ride in super nice buses, aka way more expensive, but worth it! They've got bathrooms and TVs (to watch movies there/back!) for a higher level of comfort.
- Your personal float tube is included. Tubes that hold your cooler can be shared and purchased for $20 cash upon arrival. Each cooler tube can hold 2 large standard sized coolers so you can share with others.
- Lunch. Delicious ALL YOU CAN EAT taco bar when we get out of the river after floating.
The event in a nutshell:
- Show up to the bus with your own BYOB cooler and snacks.
- We drive ~2 hours into Indiana watching movies, then arrive at the river and float with Riverside Rentals.
- Grab our tubes and float/drink/chat/relax for ~3 hours.
- Get out of the river and chow down on all you can eat tacos.
- Board the bus and head back to sweet home Chicago!
The Schedule:
*All times are listed in Chicago time (Central Standard Time)9:15 am SHARP - Buses Depart Chicago
(meet on the NW corner of Sheffield and Fullerton, you'll see big coach buses and we'll check you in)12:00 pm - Buses arrive at the river and we float!
3:30 pm - Float ends at the tubing place, get out, eat lunch, freshen up and finish your drinks.
4:30-5:00 pm - Head back to Chicago
(drop off at the same place we started the day)~6:30-7:00 pm - Arrive in Chicago

A COUPLE FINAL THINGS:
- You can leave anything you'd like on the bus while we're floating. They'll be locked and waiting for us right when we get out.
- No hard liquor allowed. No exceptions. No glass containers.
- Drinking alcohol isn't allowed on the bus rides.
- DO NOT sign up for this trip if you plan to get drunk. We will all get a nice buzz going on the trip but don't need anyone being irresponsible.
- This is a rain or shine event. That means if there is light or normal rain forecast we still go on the trip. If the rain is severe or there is potential for lightning, we of course will not go.
- Due to insurance underwriting limitations, only attendees up to the age of 59 are able to attend.
