Buddhism 101 - Basic Teachings

Needs a location

This group is meant for beginners with curious, open minds who know little or nothing about Buddhism and Meditation. Students in World Religion courses are also welcome.

During this hour service, we will cover basic instructions, practice sitting meditation, and discuss a basic Buddhist teaching. The instructions begins at 6:30pm but doors open at 6:15pm. We will be meeting in the back room of the main temple, but will also be broadcasting on FB live at: (https://www.facebook.com/sabuddhisttemple)

If you want more details on the topic we will cover on a specific date or want to watch video of past meetings, please go to the Buddhism 101 FaceBook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2394096227583995

Buddhist Temple of SA Sunday Service

Needs a location

Sunday Services are open for in-person attendance. Members and guests are welcome to join us for weekly service in the new shrine hall as we continue to maintain social distancing protocols and mask requirements during the full duration of the service. For now, all services will be livestreamed on Facebook Live (https://www.facebook.com/sabuddhisttemple).

Dear Sangha. Effective February 1, 2022, we will be discontinuing our use of the Meetup.com website indefinitely. We understand it is convenient to have multiple social outlets to follow us on, but this change will help centralize our efforts to share news, announcements, teachings, and events at the Temple. If you haven't already, please be sure to Like and Follow our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/sabuddhisttemple and its groups for the Book Club, Buddhist Meditation, and Buddhism 101. You may also follow us on Instagram: @sabuddhisttemple. Finally, our website is always up-to-date to show the latest announcements and events: www.BuddhistTempleSA.org. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Namo Shakyamuni Buddha!

This week, we will have a 10-15 min. meditation followed by chanting. Venerable Master Thich Phuoc Quang will be leading us in traditional chants that have been translated into English (http://www.phuochuesabuddhisttemple.com/services-le-muc/) (follow link if you want to see them before hand). This form of meditation is different from sitting meditation as the goal is to be mindful as you read aloud ancient Buddhist teachings.

All are welcome. If you have any questions or comments about the service please don't hesitate to leave them below. We look forward to meeting you this Sunday.

Our services are also LIVE on YouTube. Please subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCecQwoSeF3kM92LTeOusmPA

Feel free to follow this link (http://www.phuochuesabuddhisttemple.com/services-le-muc/) to our Services page. There you can find a copy of the Chant Book and a document on Buddhist Temple Etiquette.

Note: Regular Sunday services are canceled if there are any other events going on that day. Please refer to our Events page.
