I hope you can attend a very special meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, that will feature a screening of the 2011 documentary, “Marceline,” about the fondness Walt Disney had for his childhood on the family’s farm in Marceline, Missouri.

Finding the DVD of this film has become increasingly difficult.

This 71-minute film was directed and edited by Andy and Sara Neitzert. It features historian and author Dan Viets, who specializes in Walt Disney’s early life and roots in Missouri, along with interviews with Marceline locals.

Many of the residents sharing their memories are simply entertaining real-life characters fondly recalling Walt’s visits, including one who was pictured in 1956 fishing with Walt and Roy.

Before the screening, we’ll have a bit of club business to take care of. We’ll also be electing other officers, but some incumbents may continue — especially if they’re willing to do so. We’ll try to wrap that up fairly quickly, so we can watch the film and discuss it a bit afterward.

The board positions are president; vice president; social media director; AV master; treasurer; and member-at-large.
