A private tour of the Latino Center of Arts & Culture and an evening talk on boosting local artists and arts programming.
Hi, this is Vanessa, your ENLIGHTENMENT salon host.
Artist Lorena Rodriguez has been making a big mark on Sacramento’s art scene for the past year.
She’s the 2026 Emerging Curators Fellow with the City of Sacramento’s Office of Arts & Culture. The first exhibition she’s curating for them, Liquid Memories: An Ode to the Waters of Sacramento, opens May 29 at the Robert T. Matsui Gallery.
Rodriguez was also just appointed as Executive Director of the Latino Center of Art & Culture (LCAC). Founded in 1972, the Center has been a cultural anchor for the community, hosting vibrant art exhibits and events like the annual Day of the Dead celebration El Panteón de Sacramento. LCAC was hit hard last summer when it lost an already-approved $65,000 federal National Endowment for the Arts grant, so one of Lorena’s main tasks is to find funding elsewhere and have the community support a variety of arts programming for all ages.
Rodriguez is coming to the salon to tell us about the two upcoming exhibits she's managing, her approach to curating, her goals for LCAC and her plans for support for artists and Latino culture in the region.
