Manga book club - 1st Tuesdays! Reading: Revolutionary Girl Utena

Manga book club for June: we are reading Shoujo Kakumei Utena/ Revolutionary Girl Utena.

Description: Revolutionary Girl Utena (Shoujo Kakumei Utena) is a 5-volume surrealist fantasy manga by Chiho Saito and Be-Papas that follows Utena Tenjou, a tomboyish girl striving to be a prince, who becomes entangled in a dangerous dueling tournament at Ohtori Academy to win the "Rose Bride," Anthy Himemiya. It explores themes of identity, adulthood, and gender roles, often differing significantly from the anime.

Author/Artist: Chiho Saito (story and art), Be-Papas (original concept). Originally serialized in Ciao magazine (1996).

We are aiming to read all 5 volumes, then we can meet up and discuss! All are welcome even if you haven’t read it. Hoping to make a fun group night to meet every month and check out different breweries around Sacramento.
