About us
I have a 39 ft. sailboat in the Bay and often family and friends aren't available to sail when I can. My intention is to post an "event" a few weeks in advance of weekends when I'll be sailing solo. Many times, that will include/be a Friday. If you have an interest in sailing but no experience, you're welcome to join me. If you have sailing experience all the better. We'll always launch from Emeryville Cove Yacht Harbor.
You don't have to be super fit, but you need to be able to do basic tasks like pulling on a rope really hard and wrapping it around a post quickly and moving around on a boat that is healing (tilting) and bouncing. If your goal is to sit on the bow (front), drink beer, and enjoy the ride, sorry don't need you. If you genuinely want to learn what sailing is like and how it works, welcome aboard. If you can't swim, you'll be required to wear an ugly orange life vest, even when it's calm and others aren't. Sorry, learn to swim.
We'll typically either pack lunches, I'll bake or barbeque while we're out, or we'll dock somewhere for lunch.
Anyone is welcome; the only requirement is an open mind and willingness to participate and learn.
Feel free to ask questions. For every sailing event we'll do a brief zoom meeting a day or two ahead to get acquainted with your skipper, so you're not getting on a boat with some random guy.
