Where Are We Headed?

Meeting towards the back of the parking lot of the Bel-Air supermarket, we will head to the Sunrise Boulevard River Access Point. We will cross the American River, via the Fair Oaks Bridge, and head into Fair Oaks Village to follow the mysterious and hilly "Chicken Run" race course.

Here is a description of the different distances and workouts that some of the participants will be doing:

"Original Recipe" Chicken Loop = One loop of the 5-mile race course, plus 1 mile each way from parking lot for a total of seven miles.

"Extra Crispy" Chicken Loop = One loop of the 5-mile race course, including out and back extension on Illinois Avenue, plus 1 mile each way from parking lot for a total of eight miles.

"Double Double" = Two loops of the race course, plus 1 mile each way from the parking lot for a total of twelve miles.

"Double Double Go Large” = Two loops of the race course, plus out and back extension on Illinois Avenue, adding 1 mile to each loop, for a total distance of sixteen miles.

“Double Double Animal Style” = Two loops of the race course, plus out and back extension on Illinois Avenue, then finish off with hill repeats on Pennsylvania Avenue, extending the workout to over fourteen miles.

Depending on the enthusiasm of the participants, we may also choose to include the scenic “Bobby Carpenter Pond Trail” in order to add a little cross-country excitement to the workout.

It is up to each individual to decide which variation of the workout will fit their personal training plans.
