Mobile Payments UX: Design Patterns and Emerging Best Practices for Mobile Commerce

As consumers gravitate to using their mobile devices as a tool to bank, travel and shop, UX designers are facing tough user experience challenges. Consumers expect seamless convenience, security and speed. For apps that handle consumer financial information, the slightest misstep will raise user doubt in the experience, and they will drop out in seconds. This session will give a primer on emerging best practices in mobile banking and commerce user experience design, highlighting emerging design patterns and pitfalls to avoid. Skip Allums, design lead at Monitise & O'Reilly author on mobile commerce, will address these topics in his presentation:

  • how to create best-in-class payment experiences on mobile devices; - design tips for common mobile wallet use cases: retail, loyalty, offers, transit; - how to build consumer trust with security best practices
  • future payment technologies & how to incorporate them

Skip Allums is design lead for Monitise, a leading technology provider in the mobile banking and payments space. Monitise clients include Visa, FIS, RBS, and a third of the top 50 banks in North America. Skip specializes in designing best-in-class UX for mobile banking and m-commerce apps. He is the author of Designing Mobile Payment Experiences, out August 2014 from O'Reilly Media.

This Meetup will be sponsored by O'Reilly and we will have free books and cool swag!
