Ladies, if you like to sing, you're invited to visit the Sacramento Valley Chorus. Joining one of our rehearsals is the perfect way to find out more about barbershop singing and what 4-part harmony can do for you! Discover the joy of ringing chords and the spirit of community that this art form can bring. Each Wednesday evening is a lesson in vocal and performance skills. Along with musical development, the Sacramento Valley Chorus offers creative opportunities in areas like choreography, costume design and scripting. We plan to be back to Wednesday rehearsals as soon as that day is available to us at the community center.
Discover the joy of pure harmony and fellowship that this unique art form of 4-part harmony can bring. Become a member and join us as we work with community leaders, music educators, and people of all ages to live better lives through song! We meet each week at 7:00pm - come a little early to get a name tag.
The usual routine is:
- distribute name tag & sheet music, help you determine which voice part you'll want to sing,
- physical warmups to music for 5-10 minutes,
- chorus business announcements 10 minutes,
- move to chorus risers for vocal warmups lead by director or section leader 20 minutes,
- work on repertoire or new songs,
- occasionally we work on choreography for some of the songs,
- occasionally we separate into different rooms for voice-part sections to work on section unity.
