Beginning at 7 PM, come and enjoy a short presentation about the shaman's "mesa" and learn about healing tables/altars from cultures around the world. Those attending will work with a partner or small group to build a healing "mesa," or table, and we will discuss in circle.

The second portion of the evening will be devoted to ancient trance posture ceremony and journeywork.

Light refreshments will be provided by your hosts.

For this second Saturday of the month event, HOUSTON SHAMANISM and sister group, Sacred Circle, meet at 2115 Turner Drive in Houston, inside the main church building at the corner of Aldine Westfield Road and Turner Drive (First Spiritualist Church of Houston). Park inside the gated area (free).

ABOUT HOUSTON SHAMANISM

We are now in our 22nd year in the Houston area!

Come and join us on the second Saturday of each month for ecstatic trance journey ceremony, utilizing ancient shamanic trance postures, presented by multi- generation native healer/shaman, Golden Phoenix and his circle Elders.

GP blends the traditional indigenous beliefs of his ancestral family line of healers from northern Mexico, with minimally modified practices that allow for a more personal experience, exploration and self-healing of the individual without losing the focus of the community-based healing aspect of traditional shamanism.

GP has also been gifted with spiritual wisdom and practices from teachers and tribal elders who have given their blessing for him to share some of these practices with others. These ceremonies are always approached and presented respectfully and are NOT for entertainment purposes.

Through ecstatic trance posture journeying, the goal is to connect with spiritual allies, power animals, ancestors and guides to request healing, knowledge, or discover the answers to spiritual questions. We do have spiritual phenomena occurring at our events and spirit activity from the ancestors and spirits of the land that join us in circle to dance, sing and drum. What we do at this gathering cannot be fully appreciated unless experienced in person. Come with an open mind and a willingness to participate in ceremony.

Dress comfortably in loose fitting clothing as we will be sitting, standing, and/or lying down. Bring a traditional frame drum and rattle (not required) if you have one, a bottle of water, a blanket in case you get cold, and a journal if you wish to record your experiences. We have a few extras you may also use.

Sacred Circle and Houston Shamanism appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us provide our members a safe experience.

We are NOT a dating, advertising, sales, entertainment or promotional group; therefore we ask anyone attending to please refrain from networking for personal, or business reasons during our meetings or events.

We are always a "substance-free" event. We use drumming to facilitate trance journeying which is safe and fully effective and allows participants to remain in control of their spiritual experiences and self-healing.

No attendee is permitted to burn their own sage bundles or incenses during ceremony.

Attendees should not touch or move objects on the shaman's mesa.

*** Please, no children under age 16 at the second Saturday ceremony due to the intensity and focus required, as well as the spiritual phenomena (activity) which may be too intense for children.
