Team Veg Marathon training group!

Hi, Everyone!

Hey, all you runner-types out there:  wanted to let you all know about a new meetup group that we've organized: Team Veg of  Greater Sacramento.  Jed Soliz is the primary organizer for training, events, and meetups.   Check it out!  First meetup is tonight, but there will be more!!! So, if you're a runner, thinking about training for a marathon or half-marathon, and/or an athlete wanting to explore transitioning to a totally plant-based, healthy diet...or even already vegan but wanting more info/ ideas for optimizing your training diet, this would be a great group for you! (:

WHAT IT IS: A team of runners Training and Competing on a 100% plant-based diet with certain goal races in mind: The first will be the California International Marathon with a few tune-up races leading up to CIM. OUR GOAL AND MISSION: The Project objective is to support and promote a healthy vegan diet by using Athleticism as a means to show and educate others on the benefits of eating this way, and what it can do for our performance as athletes. We welcome all runners, even if not competitive, who are willing to commit to a plant-based (i.e. vegan) diet by the end of the summer and keep it at least through the goal race day. For some runners, this will be taken on as a new dietary challenge to see how well they perform following a plant-based lifestyle. For others, the goal will be to continue training and competing as vegans to help demonstrate how well it works! For the rest, the mission will simply be to join our team to support the cause and be part of the movement.

Additional Details: There will be weekly local group training & support meet-ups throughout the Summer and Fall, led by myself (Jed Soliz) if there are enough interested people! California International Marathon is the goal race and we may or may not be able to get sponsorship for this, so participants must be willing to pay for there own entry fees if need be. This is a very popular race and entries will fill up fast, so it is best to sign up as soon as possible. We are planning on having "Team Veg" Racing or Tech Tee shirts. (We are really going to try and get these comped, but again, we may have to distribute them out to Team Veg runners at cost for those interested in purchasing one.) There are a few tune-up races that I will be doing to get ready for the main event. Team Veg teammates are welcome to join me for any of these. So far these are: Forty Niner 10 miler run in Auburn on September 3rd; Tough Mudder on September 22nd; Run for Courage 5k on September 29th; Four Bridges Half Marathon on October 27th; and Run to Feed the Hungry on Thanksgiving Day, November 22nd. (Additional races may be added at a later date.)

Thanks for your interest in our team! We hope to see you out there!
