Since we have an unexpected cool August day, we hope you can join Tom & Tami for a beautiful nature walk at the Dave Moore Nature Area Loop Trail, nestled in the heart of California’s historic Gold Rush Country on HWY 49 near Lotus CA about 16 miles Southeast from Auburn CA.
Along the trail, you’ll see remnants of the area’s fascinating history. Nearly 150 years ago, Chinese laborers worked here with picks and shovels, channeling creek water for gold-mining operations. Today, the area offers a peaceful walk through nature with plenty of interesting scenery and opportunities to take photos along the way.
The Dave Moore Nature Area Loop Trail is approximately 1.1 miles, mostly flat with very little elevation gain. We’ll take our time and enjoy a leisurely 40–50 minute walk, allowing plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, visit, and take photos.
We will meet in the trailhead parking lot at 10:00 AM.
There is free parking in the dedicated parking lot and a vault toilet at the trailhead. The trailhead is located along Highway 49, approximately 16 miles southeast of Auburn, between Cool and Coloma. Preview Trail information here:
