SAGE (Social Autism Group Events)

Hi everyone 👋🏻
I have been recommended to organise a Bull Creek Station to Canning Bridge walk event, in which we start walking from the Bull Creek Train Station in Bull Creek to Canning Bridge in Como.

We will all meet at the Bull Creek Station Car Park North at 9am. Google maps position is https://maps.app.goo.gl/ccmEHTG9djvbnuSm8?g_st=ipc.

Please note that I do start these walks early in the morning before it gets hot and there is plenty of car parking spots at the meeting spot for this event and as the name of the meeting spot suggests, is very accessible via public transport, as the Bull Creek Train Station is at the meeting spot.
Just remember to wear good walking shoes and clothes for walking and depending on how hot it’s going to be, bring plenty of water and sunscreen also. Bring a raincoat too should they forecast rain that day.

SAGE is a social group run by autistic for autistic people, you don’t need a formal diagnosis to join and support people are welcome.

SAGE acknowledges that we are meeting on the traditional country of the Noongar people of the South West and pays respect to Elders past and present.

The activities are scheduled for 1 hour but can go as long as people want to play. The host has a Zoom premium membership so we are not limited to 40mins.

We will also have break rooms, if people just want to hang out in another chat room and chat with others, if not playing Jackbox.

Timeline
7.20pm Host will be online
7.30pm Official Start, with introductions if new people
7.35pm Starting Jackbox
8.30pm-8.35pm Official finish time
9.30pm Latest we can go to end time.

Come along to our traditional fortnightly games night at Grill’d Vic Park!

The event starts at 630 but feel free to arrive early and head to the long table at the back before the booths. You can order at the counter or by QR code on the table at anytime, then settle in and make some space for the games.

As there can be a lot happening during the event we may need to move places so that a game can flow smoothly, sometimes if you aren’t playing it can be good to swap spots with someone who is so they can be closer to the action.

Feel free to bring along your own games but be aware that it may be hard to teach something too complicated, and please nothing that could be offensive. Easy to learn stuff is best.

This can be a lively event with a large turnout in a public restaurant, there is noise and a bit happening, it may push people out of their comfort zone which can be exciting but also challenging, please take care of yourself.

This can be a challenging event for host too, so please respect that hosts are autistic volunteers and have their limits, any assistance in bringing games and leading games is helpful.

It can also get hot in summer as the restaurant has an open shop front, it may start hot and a bit unpleasant but it does cool down. There is free parking around Vic Park at the IGA and the Park Centre Shopping Centre, you can get a ticket if parking on the street.

So come along and join us every second Tuesday for Burgers and Games at Grill’d.

This meetup will run for 40 minutes max.

I will start the structured sharing at 5 past the hour so we can get around to everyone.

While hosting, my ability to assist with tech will be minimal, I will do my best to set things up beforehand.
