Sailing on Lake Superior and Duluth Harbor
Details
The Over Easy is a Catalina 25 (pictured above) owned by the Duluth Superior Sailing Assocation (DSSA) located on the Duluth Harbor side of Park Point in Duluth. It includes a comfortable cabin with seating and a table. The Galley and Head are not operational because it's only available only for day rentals, and the DSSA doesn't have the staff to maintain the sanitation that would demand.
The course is an easy loop eastward in Duluth Harbor, out to Lake Superior through the Minnesota/Wisconsin Breakwall, then back Westward along the shore toward Duluth. We'll re-enter Duluth Harbor by going under the Lift Bridge and head East again back to the DSSA. It is an easy route and we don't sail very far offshore, but it does get us out into open water of Lake Superior. It takes about 4 1/2 hours.
I'm cleared to skipper this boat and need people who can handle assisting with taking off and landing. This is done from the wall shown in the picture above. We also need someone comfortable managing the jib and assisting with raising and lowering the main sail.
The DSSA allows people to buy day membership for $20 and there is a$35 rental fee. Slip evenly that is $28.75 per person, payable directly to the DSSA.
We can carpool up to Duluth or you can drive on your own. Snacks and drinks are fine, just no alcohol.
