What we’re about

Sakana is a curated gathering to explore refined omakase menus, seasonal specialties, and small-batch (optional) sake pairings with a thoughtful, passionate crowd. This is a sanctuary for true sushi fanatics who crave depth, details, and dialogue.

WHO IT'S FOR
This group is dedicated to sushi lovers in their 40s and beyond — seasoned palates who know their Hokkaido uni from their Sanriku, and those who are just starting to explore premium omakase experiences with curiosity and respect. Whether you’ve spent decades chasing the perfect cut or you’re ready to move beyond spicy tuna rolls, you’re welcome here.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Each event is centered around a thoughtfully selected sushi experience — ranging from intimate counter seats at up-and-coming gems, to reservations at Michelin-starred spots. Sake pairings are handpicked (and optional), and you’ll often receive a short pre-event write-up about the chef, venue, or regional cuisine focus.

OUR EVENT SETTING

  • Intimate group sizes (typically 10 guests or fewer)
  • Advance payment required to RSVP for omakase dinners, typically ranges from $200–$500 per person
  • A no-flake culture - if you RSVP, please show up
  • Calm, meaningful conversation and deep appreciation for the Japanese culinary craftsmanship

RSVP & PAYMENT POLICY

  • All Omakase events require advance payment to RSVP. Due to limited seating and the curated nature of our gatherings, we cannot accommodate last-minute cancellations or unpaid holds for omakase dinners.
  • All RSVP fees are non-refundable, unless stated otherwise in the event listing, as each event is curated with a custom menu and special booking with the venue
  • If an event is canceled or rescheduled, a full refund will be issued to confirmed attendees

ETIQUETTE & GROUP VIBE

  • This is not singles meetup — it’s for those who truly appreciate quality food and conversation.
  • Please arrive on time, be respectful of others’ space, and approach each event with openness and curiosity.

EVENT PREVIEW
Our next gathering will feature an early summer omakase at a hidden gem with impeccable sourcing and delicate craftsmanship. Expect Hokkaido scallop, cherry blossom sea bream, and a daiginjo sake pairing from Niigata Prefecture.
