Memorial Weekend Sunset Paddle ☀️ North Shore to Coffee Pot Bayou
Details
Our first official Saltwater Paddle Crew meetup. We’ll launch from Coffee Pot Bayou and paddle toward the quiet mangrove areas near the Coffee Pot Bayou Bird Preserve, one of the best hidden wildlife spots around downtown St. Pete. Expect calm waters, sunset skies, pelicans flying overhead, mangroves, seabirds, possible dolphin sightings, and a relaxed social atmosphere to unwind after the work week.
This first meetup is also a chance to test the waters, meet the crew, learn more about the group, and make sure everyone feels comfortable before future explorations around Tampa Bay. I’ve received a few messages from members asking questions about their paddle boards and equipment, so before launch we can also help check boards and make sure everything looks good at no cost. Please bring your own equipment, paddle, kayak, life jacket, and pump if you have an inflatable board.
This paddle is more about enjoying the experience than rushing the route. Perfect for meeting people, taking photos, exploring local nature, getting a light workout, and starting the weekend on the water.
Difficulty:
Easy to Moderate
Water Conditions:
Usually calm during the evening with lighter winds and less boat traffic.
Wildlife:
Pelicans, herons, egrets, cormorants, dolphins, and occasional manatees.
Recommended:
Bring sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water, and dry bags for phones/cameras.
Best Launch Window:
6:15 PM to 6:30 PM
Note: Saltwater Paddle Crew is currently a free community driven group during its pilot phase. Meetup limits the number of official RSVPs on free host accounts, so even if an event appears “full,” members are still welcome to join us at the launch location unless otherwise noted. Feel free to show up, paddle, meet the crew, and enjoy the adventure with us.
